West Arm Grand Traverse Bay is a bay on Lake Michigan in Michigan. Grand Traverse Bay is a Lake Michigan bay formed by the Leelanau Peninsula in the northwestern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. The bay is 32 miles (51 km) long, 10 miles (16 km) wide, and up to 620 feet (190 m) deep in places.
The lake is 321 miles (517 km) long (north to south); it has a maximum width of 118 miles (190 km) and a drainage basin of approximately 45,500 square miles (118,000 square km), not including its surface area, which is 22,300 square miles (57,557 square km).

The area’s weekly beach monitoring program includes more than two dozen beaches on both Lake Michigan and inland lakes in Grand Traverse, Benzie, and Leelanau counties. Samples are collected every Wednesday morning and results are returned the next day.
